We often realize how our examples influence immensely our children, even when they're that young.
- Wherever we lived, we always close the door behind us after entering the room (any room in the house) because we wanted to keep the kids in the same room as us, and in winter, it's to preserve the heat as we're heating the room. Taiamani and Ilyah do the same. If we for get to close the door, they will do it for us. If they open a door, they will close it without us have to tell them. If they see a door that is not close completely, they will close it properly.
- Their juice bottle looks like a sport's drink bottle, with the top opening when you pull it. In order to avoid any spilling, I always supervise them drinking and as soon as they stop drinking, I run to close the bottle. Well, now they do it themselves without me running anymore. They drink, then they close and give the bottles to me.
- Every night after dinner, I would either take the little broom with the dustpan or the vaccum to clean the floor. Taiamani and Ilyah would often take the boom and dustpan to play with and sweep the floor (especially Taiamani). One funny situation was during Halloween with our ward. There was a game which require to run with a spoon to get some M&M's and run back to the fill up the team's bowl (something like that). I was looking for Taiamani as she disappeared suddenly. Needless to say that we found her under the M&Ms table sweeping the ones that fell to the floor. Here is a picture:
- Every time we cook, the kids always get a chair from the dining room and drag it to the counter to see what we're doing. They always ask to see inside the pot after we add an ingredient. Taiamani likes to cook with Papa and help him cut or cook the meal. Ilyah likes to taste the food.
- Lately, whenever we would go in the car and use the GPS, Taiamani would repeat the directions like "turn left/right", "at the end of the road...", "left turn ahead"... . Who would have thought that a GPS would be of a great help to polish our kids' english. It's really funny to hear it.
- When I do laundry, the kids know exactly what's going on. When they see me bringing down the laundry basket, they go immediately under the kitchen sink to get: Ilyah, the softener, and Taiamani, the detergent (the washing-machine is in the kitchen like in a lot of the houses/apartment in Europe).
- When I vaccum, Ilyah always ride the vaccum like a horse.
