Imagine not being able to hear the birds singing, the music playing in the background, the voice of you husband saying "I love you" to you, your kids calling you "Mama" or "Mommy"...
Imagine not being able to see the face of your children light up in Christmas, the face of your husband when you wake up in the morning, the beautiful colors that the world has to offer, the beauty of nature and God's creations...
Imagine not being able to hear AND see all these things and much more...
Well this is the life of 3 little girls, triplets, Zoe, Emma and Sophie. They're the only deafblind triplets known in the whole world.
Today I watched the Dr Phil show and this is what it was talking about. I cried for most of the show because I feel for the Mom and can only imagine how difficult it is for her. It was an eye opening experience and made me VERY humble. I only have 2 children and they both can hear me and see me fine, and yet they still don't listen to me. These kids can't see and hear their parents and thus have no way of communicating with them. They can't learn sign language because they can't see and learn the signs and can't talk because they can't hear the sounds of a voice. How do you communicate that way? How do you tell them "I love you"...
One thing that the mom said that touched me the most was that she thinks that they think "Why did mom stop talking to me?" (the girls lost they hearing when they were 2 and a half).
Life is very chaotic for the mom and I just wish I could do something for her to lift her burden.
From what I understood from the show, the kids needs some kind of special education for deafblind people but as you obviously know, this cost a lot of money. I think it's like $50.000 per child for a year.
To help the parents, Dr Phil set up some kind of foundation for this family. You can access it here. Click on "Support Zoe, Emma, Sophie"!!
You want to read the story and know more about their situation, click here.
A couple of guys (don't really know personally who they are) made a documentary about them. They're selling the DVD and all the money will go to that family to help them. There's a little preview here where you can see the triplets a little. You can also browse around to get more info if you want.
Along with the DVD, a video clip was made. Here it is. You can see those cute little girls again.
As of July 2007, there were 301,139,947 people living in the USA. Can you imagine if everyone would pitch in just $1, that would be a lot of money going to them or to any humanitarian help also. Or even just with the population in California, with 36,457,549 people donating $1.
I'm just talking about the USA, because it's only for U.S. residents. I'll try to find another way though.
I honestly don't know when this show was aired in the States, but if anybody saw it and heard about any updates, could you please let me know. I just hope all is well for them. I keep them in my heart.
