Tahiti, here we come...

On Wednesday, 24th of June, we all took the train at 7:30am from Brussels to Paris CDG airport in order to take the Air Tahiti Nui flight to Tahiti. Juri accompanied us to the airport and it also gave us some more time to spend together as a family.

The kids were excited to be on the train. It was a pleasant 1 and a half hour ride to the airport instead of 3hrs by car.

Last picture and hugs and kisses to Papa before we went through security and onto the gate.

Ilyah craving for more attention from Papa

11:30 - we boarded the plane and they gave the traditional Tiare flower. The kids were still pretty excited.

7hrs into the flight, they finally crashed to sleep. It was difficult for all of us because it was so uncomfortable. I felt bad for them!

After 12hrs, we arrived in LA for a 2hr transit. Then we got on the plane again for another 8 or so hours. By then the kids wanted to go home. They slept a bit more on the way to Tahiti, which wasn't the ideal for me because I wanted to condition them already for the time difference. The last 3hrs we're the longest ever, I thought. We were so close to the end that I just wanted to be there already.

We finally landed in Tahiti at 10:15 pm local time on Wednesday (10:15am Brussels time on Thursday). It was already very hot. The kids were a bit shy with my parents at first, but by the time we got home, they started talking to them in french and playing. I called Juri via Skype (thank goodness for it!) to let him know that we made it alive and that I wasn't going to the psychiatric ward after all. He felt much more relieved; however, his first night without us felt very lonely. I already missed him then. It was after midnight that I was able to put the kids to bed.

They then woke at 6:30am for the day and went to chat with Pépé while he was having breakfast. I could hear them from my bedroom; Taiamani telling all of our family secrets. They were very excited to wear very little clothes and go play in the big yard.

Taiamani was very happy to wear Moehani's (my niece) girly clothes and play with all her girly toys too. Ilyah was just enjoying the space, the freedom to run, and the ability to climb everywhere.

We also did a little bit of chilling.

That first day they played non-stop and didn't nap at all. So after an early bath time and dinner (around 5:30pm), Ilyah fell asleep chewing his bread. It was so cute! On this pic, he still has the piece of bread in his mouth. Poor little guy... It's the first time ever than Ilyah falls asleep eating.

They played a LOT that day, like never before. They slept for almost 12hrs that night.

Good to hear an update! I'm glad you guys made it and are safe and happy. Juri came over for dinner tonight and I'm pretty sure when he left he was thankful for the fact that he was going to a quiet place. :)

Vaitiare, what is the bright yellow thing shining in the Tahitian sky? Oh yeah, SUNSHINE! (how you've missed it, right?) I am so happy you arrived safe and sound. I bet you are loving every minute of having family so close, warm tropical weather, and sunshine! I love you, have a great time!
