This whole week has been freezing cold here in Brussels, having temps ranging from-5C/23F to -1C/30F max during the day. As we would walk to school, the kids would tell me how much they'd like to be in Tahiti because it's always warm/HOT. Actually, since we came back from Tahiti, they kept talking about Tahiti and how they wanted to go back there, as if it was only a car ride away.
However, I couldn't complain about the cold because it was so nice, dry and sunny, which is much much better than constant rain.
The whole week, there's been speculation about having snow by the end of the week, which I thought was kinda cool.
Well, at around noon on thursday, the awaited snow came and it was pretty strong. It was such a beautiful sight. I love watching the snow falling and making everything white and pure. Then I came to the realization that I would have to drive in THAT snow to pick up the kids.
It was scary to say the least. It so rarely snows that nobody, included us, is equipped with the adequate tires and the municipality wasn't cleaning the roads. It was so slippery that I was getting really hot in the car and my cheeks were burning. I slalomed a bit and almost bumped into a car. Everybody was driving very slow, which is very unusual for belgians.
The kids though were so excited about the snow. Once we got home, they played a bit in the yard and that made their day. It was indeed really fun to play with the snow but I kinda wish it would snow next week, while we're on vacation and I don't have to drive anywhere.
