As you probably know, I've been a Relief Society teacher for almost a year now and it's truly been a learning experience. I always thought that I received that calling as a training to be a better teacher for my children, but this January, as I was going over the chapters I'll be teaching in the Joseph Smith manual, it hit me. I was called as a teacher to increase my testimony in Jesus Christ, in the truthfulness of the Gospel, and this year, to increase my testimony in Joseph Smith and the restoration of the Church.
The small stories I was able to read in the manual about his life made me want to know more about him and his life. I talked to one of our great sunday school teachers, Bro. Jamison, and he recommended me the book that his mother, Lucy Mack Smith wrote about the Prophet. I have so many things on my to-do list that I haven't had the chance to get on the Deseret website and order it along with other books. So this past sunday, right before sunday school, Bro. Jamison handed me the book. He bought it the week before while he was in the States. It's the newest version, even Deseret book doesn't have it yet. He said it's the most comprehensive version. It's called "History of Joseph Smith by His Mother Lucy Mack Smith: The Unabridged Version". I'm so thankful for him and his family to give me this so wanted book. I started reading it on monday night and finished the Foreword. So far so good. I wonder how long it will take me to finish it as I have very little time for it, just a few minutes before bed. I'll let you know how it was.
