Sleep training

It's been 3 days now that I started sleep training the kids and it's getting much better. I actually was really worried about Taiamani because she usually sleeps with us when she wakes up at night. To my great surprise, she is taking it very good and barely ever cried. Ilyah, on the other hand, is a whole other story.

We used to sit in the room until they both go to sleep, but last week they've been waking up at around 10 pm and going back to sleep at midnight and sometimes 1am. That means we would just sit there for like 2 hours. I thought it's "enough, it's time for them to sleep on their own". Well, Ilyah went from waking once or twice at night to waking up every 2 hrs crying for 30min or so. Now we sleeps longer and would cry for like 10min. I'm shooting for no more crying.

Lately, I felt like I had a newborn at home again, kind of. Actually Taiamani as a newborn would only wake up twice at night. As for Ilyah, I would put him to sleep at 8am and he would only wake up at 5am to eat then sleep again until 7:30 or 8am. Man, he was so good.
This only lasted until we moved to Belgium. You want to know something crazy?

Here it goes: Ilyah turned 3 months old when we moved here in Belgium. From that time until about 7 months old, he would wake up every hour at night. For 4 months, I was surviving on a 4 hour sleep until I decided to train him to sleep longer. I honestly don't know how I made it, especially knowing that I had to care for 2 babies, the student hubby and the home. It took me a while to learn to sleep because I would wake up after 5 hours of sleep and be ready for the day.
I'm determined to stick to the program and have them sleep independently with no cries by the end of the week.

After 2 night of listening to Ilyah crying at night, Taiamani always tells me that she doesn't want to sleep with him because, he doesn't listen to me when I say to go to sleep and that it hurts her ears when Ilyah cries. Poor girl, I feel for her. I asked her to be patient with Ilyah and that soon he won't cry anymore. She said "yes".

These were taken in the summer, now they're all bundled up in blankets and we switched the places for their beds.
