Family ... isn't about being together?

It's been now a month since Vai left with the kids to Tahiti. As much as I wanted to go with them to that tropical paradise, it simply did not work out.

Being away from those you love more than anything else gives you a broad picture of the meaning of the family. It puts things into perspective. Family really is about doing things together and go through life's adventure together, hand in hand with the person (and the little ones) you love.

I realized how much we take for granted the time we spend as a family. The time that will never be given back.

Granted, I now have more time to do those things around the house and the yard (which was way overdue by the way). However, every time I get home there is nobody to greet you, nobody to hug you, nobody to run into your arms, nobody to talk to ... well you get the picture.

So, I learned one major lesson from this experience - don't plan any long-term travels apart.
Do things together, it's much more fun. Spend time together, it's priceless.

I have another week and a half to go before I'll join them all. I can't wait to see them. Until then, empty house, lots of yard work, and self-made dinners.
