Here in Belgium, school started on Monday the 1st of September. Like I said before, in France or Belgium, kids can start school at 2 and a half years old as long as they're potty trained. Taiamani started school in November 2007.
This year, she's is officially in 1st year "maternelle". It was a bit difficult to get into the roll of things after 2 months of vacation, but we managed to get to school before time (8:30). School is from Monday to Friday starting at 8:30am till 3:30pm, except for Wednesday (until noon). They have snack time at 10am, lunch at noon, then nap time from 12:45 till 2:15pm.
She has a lot of fun at school and I have a lot of fun having only one child at home (I know, I'm spoiled).
Soon, I'll be working again on potty training Ilyah so that he'll be ready for January 2009 to start school. Ilyah regressed with using the toilet after having diapers on during the weekend because we needed to do some errands. I'm hoping we'll have enough time until January and that hopefully my mother-in-law will be a big help when she comes next week.
And then, I'll be baby-free for a little while, which is exciting.

Taiamani picture is so darling. You are just getting better and better. I wish they had that kind of schooling here too. Oh well preschool is better than nothing.
her first day of school picture is stunning. well done!
Thanks Sharon.
Margo, I love the fact that they can go to school that early. I mean, we grew up like this in Tahiti, going to Maternelle at around 3yo.
